Please  tell us about your career to date

I have been working in HR for around five years and during this time I have mainly been involved in change programmes that focused on delivering a more effective way of working. Previously, I worked as an eyewear product manager for a company in Surrey.

What are your career highlights?

The highlight of my career so far was my first role within HR. At the time I was working for a care home provider and was fortunate enough to work with a great team of HR professionals who took me under their wing, and allowed me to get involved in several really interesting projects.

What initially attracted you to HR?

I was looking for a career change and remembered that I enjoyed the HR courses which were part of my university degree. So I decided to start off by temping so that I could better understand which part of HR I wanted to work in. I was fortunate that the first assignment I was given was a major restructure of the business operating structure because it allowed me to find an area of HR that I really enjoyed. I’m very happy to have made the career change!

What career ambitions are you still to achieve?

I would like the opportunity to manage and develop a team at some stage in my career.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing?

I would definitely be living back home in Zimbabwe doing some kind of work in wildlife.
