The company is a leading solicitors firm specialising in various business sectors including; litigation, employment law, corporate law, intellectual property and commercial property
Description:
To manage the Credit Function which will involve working closely with the Accounts Manager and also the Chief Executive and Management Committee
- Will work on own initiative, but will report to the Accounts Manager
- Will be required, initially, to adhere to existing early-stage collection processes (e.g. standard letters)
- Will be responsible for all stages of collection through to legal action, at which point the file will be handed over to the Firm’s in-house Debt Recovery expert
- Will be responsible for meticulously recording actions taken and information relating to outstanding debts, on the Firm’s Debtors Database – a resource also used by the Accounts Manager and Chief Executive
- Will provide routine and ad-hoc reports from the Debtors Database and accounts package (Lawsoft) to Clients, Fee Earners and Management
- Will be responsible for providing statistics, analysis and forecasts to Management
- Will liaise closely with Fee Earners to discuss their debts
- Will liaise closely with the Accounts Team to discuss daily receipts and Client to Office transfers
- Will monitor for potential Client to Office transfers in compliance with SRA Rule 17.3
- Will be responsible, under the guidance of the Accounts Manager, for calculating the Firm’s Bad Debt Provision
- Will monitor and reconcile Cost Recovery Ledger
- Will eventually review and develop existing procedures, liaising with the Accounts Manager and IT Department
Profile:
A successful candidate will:
- Have relevant Credit Control experience
- Compulsory - comes from a legal background
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively, face to face, over the telephone and in written communications, with internal Clients (Fee Earners) and external Clients
A professional approach, strong negotiation skills and a diplomatic manner
Excellent levels of numeracy and literacy
Good knowledge of Excel and Word
Previous Law Firm experience in a similar role. Must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Rules
Knowledge of Lawsoft is not required as training will be given.
Where specific UK qualifications are required we will take into account overseas equivalents.
