Mixed Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager

The North London office currently has 7 principals (6 general principals and one tax principal). It is planned that this will increase over the next 18 months both by organic growth and mergers. The North LondonTax Principal is one of three tax principals in the firm who form the tax strategy group. The office is a highly regarded centre of tax expertise within the firm.
It is envisaged the role of senior manager having their own portfolio of clients, undertaking work on behalf of the tax principal and overseeing the management of the tax department.The manager will develop the current tax supervisor so that the tax supervisor can take over the day to day management of the department enabling the senior tax manager to grow the consultancy side.
Advisory
•Assist tax principal in delivering MH tax strategy to the NL office
•Spot tax planning and advisory opportunities with new and existing clients
•Promote delivery of tax advisory services within the tax department
•Respond to tax queries from principals ensuring accuracy of information and timely communication with concerned parties
•Carry out consultancy work or special projects on behalf of the tax principal Marketing
•Assist in promoting the growth and development of the NL tax department
•Develop cross selling opportunities Portfolio management
•Manage own portfolio, maximising fee earning opportunities
•Manage the production of corporate and personal tax computations for own portfolio
•Plan, control and review work carried out by team members to ensure work is completed within timeframes and budget
•Billing on own or tax principals portfolio
•Carry out consultancy work on own portfolio as required
•Attend client meetings with or on behalf of principals
Who we're looking for
•Likely to be CTA
•Experience including both corporate and personal tax, such as IHT, CGT, Trusts, remuneration planning, investigations
•General knowledge and understanding of audit and accountancy issues
•IT literate (Excel, Tax Software)
•Communication - oral and written
•Commercial awareness / Client Focus
•People management skills
