About our client:

This UK leading wholesale and distributer of retail products is seeking a Sales Analyst to join their busy finance team.

The company offers a progressive role to work in the heart of London in a busy finance environment.

Description:

The role will be responsible for the control, reconciliation and reporting of retail outlet sales, and overall sales reporting and analysis. The position will play a key role in the development and improvement of retail outlet processes and systems (including the replacement of core business systems in 2010).  

This is a commercial role and will suit someone who is able to spot potential issues and to solve problems, and always strives to find solutions. For the right individual, there are opportunities to expand the role and take on new responsibilities.

 

Key Skills requires -

  • Proven exposure within fast paced retail businesses
  • Proven exposure of data extraction and financial analysis
  • Excellent IT skills, with Advanced Excel , Word and Access (data warehouse) skills
  • Able to demonstrate strong modeling skills  Has a problem solving approach, making investigations to get to the route of an issue and puts forward improvements to overcome an issue
  • Accurate with an eye for detail and able to work to strict deadlines
  • Well organised and self disciplined
  • A self starter who can work independently and is also a strong team player
  • Continually seeks to implement improvements in processes and reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Someone who has a positive work ethic and a determined approach
  • Can demonstrate self development and personal achievement in meeting set business objectives
  • Part qualified accountant

     Principal Responsibilities:

  • Control and monitor retail sales and banking discrepancies
  • Oversee and control posting of all retail outlets sales to ensure timely and accurate posting to finance system
  • Daily monitoring and reconciliation of outlets “called in” sales, sales postings to finance system and banking for all retail outlets
  • Investigations, follow up and reporting on discrepancies at each stage re above
  • Put forward proposals for improvements in above reporting and control  Review and report on retail outlets expenses to ensure appropriate authorisation and analysis
  • Control and reconciliation of sales receipts bank account
  • Liaison with and support to retail outlets, building strong relationships with outlet managers
  • Key role in retail outlets reporting and processes improvement programme 
  • Reporting of Company sales and gross margin for all revenue channels
  • Develop and build data warehouse to enable regular and ad hoc sales and gross margin analysis and reporting to Management Team eg timely weekly reporting of sales and gross margin (against budget, forecast, previous year) by channel, retail outlet and website
  • Develop key performance indicator reporting for all websites, designing model to track
  • Review processes for daily sales reporting, develop and build model, and deliver timely daily reporting of sales for retail outlets to Management Team
  • Review and remodel weekly reporting pack for Management Team and US HO - to ensure provide maximum value in simplest format in a timely manner (eg present graphically)
  • Build model for sales budgeting and forecasting by channel and retail outlet 
  • Period end reporting and reconciliations
  • Report each period variances of  “called in sales” v processed sales with explanations for all outlets
  • Reconciliation of retail debtor accounts and reporting on period end balances
  • Calculation and reporting of sales, commission and service charge etc accruals
  • Develop and improve reports re above
  • Prepare customer turnover reports
  • Sales and commission reports for 3rd party and employee commissions  
  • Reconciliation of Concession Statements
  • Reconciliation of concession statements to sales posted on finance system, posting of commission etc, and ensure in accordance with concession contracts
  • Liaise with outlets and department stores to resolve queries and discrepancies
  • Reconciliation and allocation of receipts to individual outlets  
  • Sales and gross margin analysis reports as requested by FC/FD

 

Profile:

My client is looking for some with an extensive background working in retail,  exposure to reconciliation of concessions and is part qualified.
