This is for a social housing client based in West London and North west London areas.

Job Description

The Technical Inspector role will involve the following duties:

Operational Service Delivery

  • To ensure all compliance, gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety, legionella and other associated M&E services', statutory and consumer standards are delivered to reduce the risk to customers, staff and partners who receive services from or work for the Council.
  • To provide regular assurance reports for Senior Managers covering all areas of performance, processes, procedures and statutory compliance responsibilities.
  • Ensure delivery of service and works is efficient in the quality of the work, meeting planned timetables, costs, response times and customer service indicators.
  • Undertake site visits post works as required to inspect and verify compliance.
  • Ensure that robust, accurate and well maintained systems, processes and record keeping are in place for all aspects of compliance.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks that may impact on any area of compliance, ensuring that the Compliance Manager is appropriately informed.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in the provision of operational performance information, reports, advice and guidance to ensure optimum performance in relation to the Building Services service.
  • Support the development of reports for establishing potential programmes of investment works based on property condition and business analysis under the guidance of the Strategic Asset Manager.
  • To plan and co-ordinate compliance work to ensure that all servicing, gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety, legionella and other associated M&E services for repair, void and development works are necessary, effective and efficiently delivered.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Must have previously worked in the following fields: mechanical bias (gas and water), electrical bias (electrical, fire systems), asbestos
  • Degree level education or equivalent through relevant training and experience
  • Experience of managing and challenging contractor performance through regular meetings, achieving positive outcomes whilst maintaining effective working relationship
  • Access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to various locations as required by the role.
  • Hold a current UK Drivers Licence or equivalent

  • Extensive knowledge of current legislation covering all areas of statutory compliance for robust and effective asset management and development.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience of planning and monitoring project/ programme delivery
