About Our Client

Our client is a growing business located in Guildford looking to add a Senior Accounts Assistant to their Accountancy team.

Job Description

Managing the Sales ledger

Setting up of new customers

Daily posting of the multi-currency sales ledger, customer statements, payment queries

Assist in reporting for VAT and Intrastat

Sales ledger reconciliation

Manage prepayments and Letters of credit from customers.

Dealing with customer queries

Ad hoc reporting

Credit control

Reporting of age debtors to management and the sales team

Overdue debtors reporting

Obtain Credit insurance for new and existing customers through the HSBC portal.

Credit control is focused on the escalation, management and follow-up of credit control issues to the sales team, Finance Director and to management. Given we are selling to customers internationally with some language issues, the Sales team normally will be the contact with the customers and escalate issues with the customers directly.

Manage the reporting of credit control issues to HSBC Invoice Finance

Doubtful debts review and provisions

Banking / Cash Management

Responsibility for multi-currency bank accounts and posting of customer payments and ad-hoc payments.

Month-end reconciliations of all bank accounts

Petty Cash

Bank loan management - Procedure for obtaining loans against stock purchase from the bank

Reporting of Invoice Finance to HSBC - Sales ledger reconciliation, Sales reporting, Debtor aging.

Monitoring of bank costs and cost reduction

Manual setup of international payments

Ad-hoc projects

The Successful Applicant


Banking experience

Sales ledger experience

Experience in a similar Senior Accounts Assistant role

Well organised individual able to communicate at all levels.

Good excel skills

Attention to details

Studied AAT part or complete

SME experience

Must be able to drive

Willing to learn and drive new processes

Online banking

Foreign currency

Nice to have

Experience of using NAV (the clients ERP system)

Vat experience
