Job Description

  • Key support role for Sales Ledger tasks
  • Review customer accounts, and ensure appropriate record keeping.
  • Ensuring the timely processing of monthly collections of Standing orders, Direct Debits, allocation of credit card and Bank transfers, and investigation of unidentified payments, charge backs and bounced cheques.
  • Timely issuing of Customer statements in-line with agreed timetable, and the provision of other documents as requested.
  • Coordinating Debtors queries, and developing strategies to ensure prompt resolution with other groups across the business.
  • Assist other areas of the Finance Dept and other ad hoc duties

Role Purpose

  • Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role entails a variety of duties mainly supporting Credit Control & Sales Ledger functions. Working as part of a small team in a pressurised Finance Dept.

Role Scope

  • Ensuring the timely and accurate processing of incoming debtor payments, ensuring statements are issued in line with timetable, and providing support to other teams within the finance teams.

Key Relationships in role

Internal: Communication with Sales Staff across the business, for both B2B & B2C Sales teams as well as daily liaison with Customer services and the finance function.

External: Daily interactions with Private and Business customers.

  • Knowledge of Accounting packages
  • Intermediate level - Excel, Word
  • We require suitable knowledge gained by doing the job, and plus Maths and English GCSE & finance related degree or AAT/ACCA/CIMA studier
