About Our Client

A leading food distribution company based in Birmingham.

Job Description

Key duties will include:

  • Planning todays Customer orders into tomorrow's distribution routes
  • Covering Northern Depots
  • Always aiming to refine the process for improved performance against objectives
  • Utilising Ortec, Microlise and SAP as core route optimisation planning tools
  • Identify strategies, present business cases and implement changes
  • Workings as a main support for Transport Managers
  • Supporting Drivers with coaching and training where required
  • Tracking results against targets
  • Weekly submission of results and updates on improvement plans
  • Liaising with Depot Managers and Transport teams on strategy
  • Training and Coaching for users of software systems as required
  • Travel to national Depots, deploy the change projects with local teams
  • Assist with Route optimisation & Telematics system deployment project team
  • Implement new solutions to all Depots in line with department objectives

The Successful Applicant

Key skills include:

  • Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain is advantageous but not a requirement
  • Professional qualifications advantageous (PRINCE2, SIX SIGMA, PMP)
  • Entry level Excel for use with raw data & PowerPoint for business presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present at senior management level as well as front line operations staff
  • Min 1-2 years relevant experience in a similar type of role
  • Ideally knowledge of Midlands & Northern regions
  • Excellent people person, can lead, delivery change and build teams to get results
  • Fleet management experience or exposure to this area within a business
  • Exposure to Route Optimisation, Telematics & EPOD systems
  • SAP experience a major advantage but other ERP systems may suffice
  • Being a lead or stakeholder of technology driven change programs in previous roles
  • Highly motivated by results and has a passion for excellence in Distribution
  • Strong Communicator - excellent listener, detailed responder

Shifts include:

  • Sunday - Thursday
  • Rota based coverage for Fridays (TBC)
  • Midday - 9pm

Salary on offer is between £28,000 and £30,000 + Bonus
