Job Description

  • Co ordinate, analyse and control the production of accurate management and statutory accounts in accordance with SLAs, to meet regulatory and corporate governance requirements, enabling business decisions to be made, planning to be carried out and performance to be monitored.
  • Lead, manage and develop direct reports to ensure that they know what is expected of them in order to maximise their contribution to business objectives and realise their full potential.
  • Advise and influence on financial controls, process improvements and good practice, to maintain the integrity of the reporting cycle and improve the quality, value and efficiency of output in keeping with Finance's strong Risk and Control framework.
  • Anticipate, plan and prepare for regulatory and business developments to ensure controls remain effective and the relevance of procedures and the continuity of the reporting cycle is maintained.
  • Identify, investigate and lead the efficient resolution of queries, issues and discrepancies to maintain customer satisfaction, mitigate re-occurrences and improve capability of the team.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies, auditors and all levels of internal business stakeholders, to ensure the effective delivery of objectives.
  • Deliver short term/one off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with line manager.

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong supervisor skills to ensure that the team members are motivated and inspired.
  • Good analytical and review skills to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly information is provided to the business.
  • Proven track record of meeting commercial and regulatory deadlines.
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly as well managing the workloads of those that are being supervised.
  • Identify and solve problems, through a detailed and focused review process using an analytical and logical skill set.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to work with people at all levels within and outside of Finance.
  • Good spreadsheet and data manipulation skills with particular reference to MS Excel, with knowledge of Nav Dynamics/Accounting systems desirable.
  • Track record in the completion of year end accounts.
  • Experience within the Insurance/Financial Services industry preferable
  • Experience of completing PRA returns desirable.
  • Have the confidence and drive to ensure that system and process improvements are not just recommended but implemented also. You will particularly look to challenge what has previously been completed to ensure the slickest processes are followed
  • Track record of influencing stakeholders and providing insight and foresight to the business.

What's on Offer

£35,000 - £38,000 p/a plus a bonus scheme of up to 17.5%
