About Our Client

The client is a prestigious centre for worldwide research and education for health. They are going through some major refurbishments at the moment which you would be a part of ensuring run smoothly.

Job Description

  1. To deliver all assigned building projects on time and within budget.
  2. Manage the planning and setting up of projects and where necessary provide project scope and specifications.
  3. Appoint contractors and external consultants in line with School procedures and through regular reviews continuously monitor progress against project plans.
  4. Supervise contractors to ensure that they are operating the Permit to work system and are undertaking works in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
  5. Demonstrate regular reviews of contractors' quality and standards of work.
  6. Provide cost advice on maintenance and minor works projects.
  7. Undertake any other duties as reasonably delegated by your line manager
  8. Manage your own continual professional development in order to contribute to service quality.
  9. To undertake condition and measured surveys, define and specify necessary works and prepare specifications and tender documents for contracts on behalf of internal clients.
  10. To supervise contracts arising from the specification work including on-site management and contract administration and cost monitor the contracts against budgets.
  11. To carry out the cyclical, planned and replacement programmes as directed to ensure that a high quality service and value for money are provided;
  12. Ensuring that works and services are carried out in accordance with best practice and statutory Health & Safety legislation while also making sure that staff and contractors undertaking maintenance activities comply with Building Regulations.
  13. To provide post project evaluation reviews on designated projects
  14. To monitor financial performance of projects and advise of deviations from budget
  15. Developing and maintaining, in conjunction with other Estates staff, information management systems and databases required to support the operations of the Estates Office such as:-
  • Asbestos Register
  • Legionella Records
  • Asset/Plan Register
  • Maintenance Management Database
  • Risk Register

The Successful Applicant

The candidate must have:

  • An undergraduate degree (preferably within building services but not essential)
  • Experience of assisting PM's on large projects
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety requirements within project management
