Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • To assist with the delivery of monthly payroll service including the provision of financial reporting and payments to statutory bodies, along with associated annual activities P60's P11D and earnings statements.
  • To conduct retro pay calculations
  • To help with handling queries from external agencies e.g., HMRC
  • To help ensure all statutory returns are made to the relevant authorities in time e.g. HMRC for tax related purposes
  • To help with other stakeholders e.g. Benefit provides, external Payroll provider, Tax authorities and Finance
  • To answer Payroll queries from Line Managers and Employees
  • To adhere to the agreed SLA's & KPI's in line with expected performance and escalate any deviation from agreements to the Payroll Manager
  • To handle monthly changes to the payroll: e.g. joiners, leavers, pay changes and overtime
  • To file all documentation

Enhance compliance and governance

  • To work to ensure consistency and visibility of the payroll process to facilitate compliance
  • To assist with the identification and mitigation of payroll compliance risks and control issues
  • To ensure the governance of the annual payroll calendars in terms of reviewing and keeping records of these calendars, coordinating any changes in processing dates which impact on management reporting and performance measurement
  • To share payroll knowledge

General administration

  • To support Shared Services administration activities where appropriate & when required due to high workload

The Successful Applicant

You will ideally have:

  • Strong excel skills
  • Degree/Strong A-levels
  • Immediately available
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience of administering multiple payrolls
  • Good knowledge of UK payroll tax framework and experience preparing and filing the relevant returns
  • Good knowledge of HR/payroll/flexible benefits processes and experience working with external service providers
  • Full understanding of risk profile within a payroll function and experience of implementing a control frame work
  • Experience of operating an outsourced payroll function, either fully managed or bureau
  • Detailed functional knowledge of payroll systems
