My client is a large and successful organisation in the education sector.

Job Description

The Management Accountant with the support of other Finance Officers, will be responsible for the accounts of a number of academies. As Management Accountant, you will be reporting into a qualified accountant, and you will be working closely with academy principals and leadership teams. Due to being responsible for a number of academies, you will be required to travel to the academies, which are between Nothampton and Daventry, but there is flexibility regarding where you will be based.

You will be given the autonomy to take ownership of the following duties:

  • Preparing financial reports e.g. budget holder reports and monthly management accounts
  • Liaising with academy principals business managers ad senior leadership teams
  • Update the budgeting software to prepare a forecast
  • Make necessary recharges and adjustments to the management accounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Prepare information for the statutory annual accounts
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • EFA budget returns
  • Preparing grant claims
  • Upload monthly payroll costs
  • Review monthly VAT postings
  • Ensure income is maximised
  • Assist with debt management

The Successful Applicant

To apply for this role you need not have experience of all of the above duties, but you must have experience of some. You will ideally be AAT Qualified or studying CIMA or ACCA, but qualified by experience candidates will be considered. Experience of working in the education sector would be advantageous, but this is not essential. You must hold a full driving licence as travel between sites will be required.

The role is paying between £28,000 and £33,000 and study support for AAT, CIMA or ACCA may be provided. The working hours are 9 - 5 with 1 hour for lunch, and holidays are 30 days plus statutory days.
