Job Description

The successful Management accountant will be responsible for:

  • Providing financial support and analytic information/ reporting of standard format to the General Manager.
  • Ensuring the overall standard policies and controls established by the company are adhered to together with ensuring the brand standards are delivered.
  • To challenge information given in the forecasting and budgeting process and make recommendations for improving returns and reducing costs.
  • Directing and interrogating monthly profit and loss accounts with comparison to budget, forecast and previous year and identify opportunities/lessons learnt
  • Support and advise the management team on financial and commercial matters arising from monthly account reviews and departmental profitability
  • Submit and ensure accurate reports i.e. daily and weekly head office reports, wage forecasts, monthly P&L accounts, audited year end accounts, annual budget pack
  • Challenges information given in forecasting and budgeting process to ensure its accuracy and integrity
  • To work closely with the Finance team at Head Office to develop best practice accounting and control procedures and ensure these are implemented in the hotel
  • Supporting the management team in completing weekly forecast and to challenge the information to ensure a commercial view of the business performance is maintained and all opportunities are maximised
  • To challenge the forecast and highlight future business risk/opportunities.
  • Ensuring that there is a strict compliance with company policies, procedures and adherence with the accounts system
  • To be involved in the annual budget process with the management team, challenging any information and making any recommendations as required
  • To attend the monthly Finance review meeting with the hotel executive team and Directors.
  • Challenging KPI reports for the Cluster and improve inefficiencies

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Management accountant based in Waltham cross accountant will have:

Proven large scale hotel or retail industry experience in a hands on financial/commercial role.
Previous experience of managing and leading a team
Qualified by experience in a finance role or studying towards (CIMA or ACCA)
Ability to communicate and influence at a senior level
Advanced report writing skills
Budget compilation
Strong analytical skills
Microsoft Office literate with advanced excel knowledge
Good working knowledge of Fidelio/Opera and other hospitality systems
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
