Job Description

The duties of the successful Litigation Team Leader will inculde but not be limited to;

  • Supervise a Team of Litigation Administrators and Credit and Legal Administrator
  • Ensure best practice is maintained at all times
  • Review all post prior to distribution
  • Maintain schedule of all small claims hearings and ensure hearings are either attended or written evidence is sent
  • Prepare and distribute weekly bad debts reports
  • Maintain and report on legal cost expenditure
  • Provide department figures for month end reporting
  • Arrange cover in absence of team members
  • Promote and escalate ideas from the team
  • Action monthly Bad debt journals within Agresso
  • To notify the business of any significant cost to the centre i.e. to Bad Debt provision
  • Monitor the Sections performance on a daily basis
  • Conduct regular reviews of County Court files with Credit departments
  • Conduct recruitment Interviews
  • Conduct Appraisals
  • Carry out disciplinary and grievance procedures as and when they become necessary
  • Assist Cash and Banking Team Leader, Credit Team Leaders and Credit Managers when necessary
  • Complete the Return to Work interviews within the section and accompany another member of staff should a home visit be necessary
  • Review, implement and monitor targets for all team members
  • Counsel and coach any team member who consistently fails to achieve target
  • Authorise holiday request forms, ensuring adequate cover on the relevant sections
  • To manage the teams sickness and absence. To ensure full coverage of the department at all times
  • Monitor lunch breaks to ensure telephones are covered
  • Work proactively with other Team Leaders, Supervisors and Management across the business
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints
  • Diffuse and resolve conflict when necessary
  • Accompany field staff on customer/depot visits
  • Motivate team members
  • Arrange regular team briefings to ensure team are regularly updated with business change and development
  • Carry out regular reviews of outstanding workloads and working practices, ensuring that the Quality Procedures are updated accordingly

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for Litigation Team Leader will bring to the position;

  • Preferably a legal background in debt recovery
  • At least two years previous accounts/credit control experience
  • The ability to lead and motivate
  • The ability to communicate at all levels both in writing and verbally
  • A diplomatic but firm approach to complex situations
  • An excellent knowledge of the companies credit function
  • The ability to cope well under pressure
  • A Professional and polite telephone manner
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • The ability to achieve targets and meet tight deadlines
  • To enable completion of specific projects, the successful candidate may be required to work additional hours, which may include evenings away
  • Lead by example
  • Willingness to undertake any studying that may be necessary
  • Flexibility

What's on Offer

The successful Litigation Team Leader will receive the following package;

  • Hours of work 09.00 - 17.30 Monday to Friday
  • Salary between £27000 & £29000, tbc.
  • A 10% incentive payment is payable, dependent on performance.
  • 22 days holiday per annum, rising to 23 after five years service, 25 after ten years service.
  • You will automatically be enrolled on our Pension Scheme after successfully completing your 3 month probationary period.
