Job Description

Immigration Paralegal:

  • To maintain understanding of current right to work legislation in order to advise management so that the company keeps abreast of all Home office changes as and when they occur
  • Responsible for all employment checks (including DBS, references and Right to Work) for new starters
  • Supporting and managing employees through their personal visa process so that they are aware of their status and obligations to the organisation (e.g. undertaking ECS checks and checking education body status etc)
  • Acting as level 1 user for our sponsor licence including making reports to UKVI through the sponsor management system to maintain legislative requirements
  • Managing individuals when their immigration status changes and tracking this appropriately on a central system to ensure their status is in line with legislation
  • Frequent audits of all documentation and processes so that managers and individuals understand what is expected of them in terms of following right to work processes and legislative requirements
  • Accountable for implementing and modifying our processes and procedures in-line with current best practice so that we meet legislative requirements in a values orientated way
  • Sourcing and conducting training so that all employees and managers understand the organisational processes, so as to minimise risk to the organisation and ensure standards are met and maintained
  • Takes the lead in working with the Home Office, our legal advisors and individuals so that we maintain our tier two sponsorship status

The Successful Applicant

  • Law degree
  • Previous experience with a proven track record of success in managing right to work processes
  • Familiarity with Tier 2 sponsor licence duties, including knowledge of reporting through the sponsor management system
  • Experience of managing database of expiry dates and work restrictions
