About Our Client

The Trust has four Main Sites and Community Properties include forensic buildings and therefore applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner. The trust provides a wide range of mental health services to the UK. To maintain continuity of service there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties is required.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1) To undertake compliance monitoring, planned preventative maintenance or emergency work as demanded by a Hospital of this type and use all skills, knowledge to ensure safe methods of working and to carry out maintenance tasks in the most cost effective way for the Trust

2) To understand the workings of engineering services and systems in NHS/Trust premises. Ensuring that they are compliant, maintained to a high standard and that all plant and equipment are utilised in a safe and efficient manner

3) To carry out work as requested by management/supervision using the appropriate current works docket/request system and ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed as required

4) To work as part of a departmental team and where necessary to support/assist the work of colleagues, and to be able to work with staff of all levels and disciplines throughout the unit

5) To provide a maintenance service to all Trust buildings, off site properties and be able to work unsupervised. To have a flexible approach to the work and be able to work beyond the normal hours of duty if required and to carry out other tasks from other disciplines should circumstances so dictate

6) To ensure work undertaken is completed in a timely manner and that appropriate records are updated through the requisite system

7) To keep up to date with any new legislation and attend training courses as directed by Estate Management

8) To be able to work safely in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, current guidance and to follow any other safety policies as issued by the Trust

9) To be compassionate and mindful to our clients and be mindful of the need for safe use, security, storage of plant, equipment and tools

10) To drive between trust properties in a safe and timely manner adhering to trust policies

The Successful Applicant

NVQ 3 Mechanical Engineer or plumbing City and Guilds plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience

Knowledge of compliance demands in health-care

Essential Competent in the installation of copper, plastic and iron pipework

Full clean driving licence

Knowledge of all associated trades

To have basic computer skills

To be able to work in occupied areas safely and conduct oneself in a manner that preserves dignity and respect to our clients

Maintenance of water quality in swimming pools

Gas-Safe registered for gas work.

Competent in the installation of pump valves and associated pipework

Relevant NHS (healthcare) experience in a similar role

To be able to work at heights and off ladders and work in confined spaces as required.

To be able to work in occupied areas safely and conduct oneself in a manner that preserves the dignity and respect due to clients

To be able to deal with tense difficult and stressful situations in the ward environment communication skills
