Job Description

Our client is looking for a new Finance Manager to join their Accountancy team in Guildford


  • To understand, use and maintain our accounts software package (Tikit TFB - P4W)
  • To process and post all client & office transactions, including billing, client to office transfers, payment of disbursements and receipt of payments and nominal ledger postings
  • Processing credit card payments by clients
  • Maintain purchase ledger and invoices
  • Payment of bills, subject to cash flow and instructions
  • Internet banking, including processing BACS & CHAPS payments, plus cheques and banking
  • Calculation and payment to HMRC of VAT
  • Payroll
  • Credit Control
  • Dealing with client queries regarding their accounts and with any leftover client balances


  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting to the senior management team
  • Monitor cash flow
  • Monitor compliance with bank covenants
  • Monitoring and chasing up possibility of client to office transfers
  • Preparation and monitoring of annual budget
  • Support the annual audit, including preparation for the visit and liaison
  • Monitor and chasing the team regarding dormant matters i.e. where time has not been recorded for a set period of time against the matter
  • Liaising with management over WIP write off requests


  • Familiarity with principles of SRA, SRA Accounts Rules and MLR regulations and ensure compliance
  • Assisting with preparation of SRA reports
  • Bank reconciliations of client and office accounts (daily)
  • Ensuring 14 day transfers are done and maintenance of all SRA Accounts Rules for compliance
  • Ensuring no client accounts are in debit
  • Producing information for annual accounts, SAR report, Lexcel & other accreditations
  • Tax/reserves


  • Payment of salaries and maintenance of records (P11D etc.) via Sage software and Excel
  • Calculation and payment to HMRC of NI and PAYE
  • Pay reviews to include recommendations based on performance of the department and the Firm
  • Maintenance of sickness records and receiving notice of absences
  • Assisting with calculation of commission payments
  • Staff benefits to include pensions and death in service
  • Dealing with salary calculations and PAYE paperwork on staff joining or leaving

The Successful Applicant

Our client is a well-known and growing business looking for a Finance Manager to join their Accountancy team in Guildford

  • Part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Excellent experience in all financial business processes
  • Competent at Finance Manager level with the potential for Finance Director in the future
  • Competent in accounting technology (Sage/Tikit TFB - P4W ideal)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications: i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience of year end file preparation and reconciliation for presentation to auditors
  • Familiarity with SRA regulations would be ideal, but not essential.
  • Commercially minded with a good all-round business focus
  • Experience of designing and reporting on performance measures such as KPI's.
  • Proven experience of helping a business to grow rapidly and successfully
