Job Description

  • Provision of full financial support to all levels operational management
  • To work alongside the finance business analyst in the identification and assessment of key performance indicators in order to improve the financial performance of operational contracts
  • Involvement with operational management in producing contract action plans, that do not dilute margin, for under performing contracts including follow up reviews to ensure all action points are implemented and producing the required cost savings
  • To continually monitor the profile of expenditure to provide accurate trend analysis therefore identifying areas for improvement on contracts and assist in the accuracy of forecasting
  • Analysis, interrogation and finalisation of management accounts on a periodic basis
  • Ensure that all income and costs are properly recognised and accounted for in line with company and accounting policy
  • Assessment of underlying financial run rates to identify exceptional items within the monthly accounts
  • Liaising with credit control to assist in the monitoring of customer debt, ensuring that operational management resolve issues promptly to obtain invoice payment in line with payment terms
  • Preparation, assessment & review of annual contract budget with all levels of operational management
  • Assistance in the preparation of forecasts ensuring accuracy of forecasting for the immediate timescale and full year performance
  • Analysis of individual and consolidated divisional forecasts to assist divisional directors in key decision making
  • Maintain a risk and opportunities log for the division and use this document to drive risk management through the divisional operation
  • Review compliance of company financial processes and best practice via regular internal finance audits
  • Work alongside the Divisional Director to ensure that Divisional financial targets are met. This will be through identifying business trends, managing financial risks/opportunities and working with operational management on cost improvement plans.
  • Ensure that all contract uplifts for both labour and non-labour are calculated and presented for payment in accordance with the contractual mechanisms and in a timely fashion
  • Attendance at business reviews and divisional meetings
  • Attendance at client meetings where required

The Successful Applicant

  • Currently studying either CIMA or ACCA- Must be at least Part qualified
  • Previous experience of project or management accounts analysis, interpretation and finalisation essential
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels, both within the organisation and externally;
  • Ability to manage one's own time and to prioritise work effectively essential
  • Thorough understanding of Excel, with the ability to develop reports etc using own initiative;
  • Good/Excellent understanding of all aspects of the finance function.
