About Our Client

The client looks after commercial buildings used mainly by healthcare providers. The role is based in the estates and facilities department and the main purpose is to ensure that all building engineering works are compliant and carried out effectively.

Job Description

  • To maintain building and engineering services to ensure compliance with technical guidance and legislation and to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both customers and staff in order to meet specified standards.

  • To use best practice and risk analysis techniques to operate all assets efficiently and safely, plus undertaking surveys, audits and reviews to ensure that standards are maintenance

  • To implement changes in work practice due to legislation; codes of practice, guidelines etc. employing suitable resources to achieve these objectives.

  • To ensure that all Estates staff on-call duties are covered
  • To promote a safe culture by contributing to Health & Safety and Risk Management. Implementing and managing Safe Systems of Work and Permits to Work, ensuring safe engineering systems and environments are delivered to both customers and staff.
  • To assist in supervising and monitoring contractors to ensure that specified standards are met.
  • To provide cover for the Compliance Manager in the event of his absence.
  • To be responsible for the storage of data.
  • To offer technical advice and assist the Estates Maintenance Craftsmen in the course of their duties.
  • To deal with staff grievances and disciplinary issues and monitor staff timekeeping and conduct.
  • Perform in a number of hostile environments where exposure to occupational hazards is common and safe systems of work are required

The Successful Applicant

  • Must have served a recognised apprenticeship with appropriate qualification to City & Guild, B Tech Standard in building services
  • To be competent in fire assessment, insurance reporting, health and safety
  • Membership of a Professional Body either BIFM, Sound training across a range of general management and professional / technical subjects
  • To possess technical knowledge and sufficient experience to ensure compliance in all areas of FM
  • Knowledge of environmental systems
  • Experience of working within the healthcare sector.
  • Evidence of planning and delivering projects of a similar function.

To have a sound knowledge of NHS Estates processes, Hospital Building Notes, ACOP, HTMs, COSHH, Health & Safety requirements / legislation and Risk Assessments
