Job Description

  1. To be operationally responsible for the maintenance and electrical services provided by the Trust's Estates Department.

  1. To supervise and carry out planned maintenance on all installation, plant equipment, medical equipment and appliances.

  1. To supervise, issue and be responsible for all work tasks carried out by maintenance and electrical teams.

  1. To ensure that all works dockets are completed in full to enable the client to be fully informed of the program cycle of works to be completed and to be reactive upon receipt of a works request.

  1. To validate and sign off all contractor work dockets, ensuring all staff are on site when they are expected to be.

  1. To complete regular audits of planned maintenance and reactive worksheets and ensure all works are closed properly, as per the service standards of the Estates function.

  1. To manage stock control of all parts required to carry out bespoke tasks and subsequently request the ordering of tools and spares in relation to the maintenance functions.

  1. Use all relevant tools, test equipment and other equipments all within safe working.

  1. Diagnose and repair faults in complicated engineering installations, plant and equipment including some medical equipment, dealing with new situations as and when they arise and communicating relevant information to others within the team.

  1. To carry out the day-to-day operations of a steam boiler house for example, but not limited to, blow down and other checking, testing and log reports.

  1. To carry out maintenance and repairs on electronic and computer type equipment, working with discrete component.

  1. To carry out the day-to-day maintenance operations of low pressure hot water boilers and systems, compressed air systems etc.

To be operationally responsible for the line management of a small team of Estates operatives, monitoring staff absenteeism, carrying out annual appraisals and managing formal HR management processes as and when required including but not limited to, completing return to work interviews, supporting performance, grievance and disciplinary processes.

  1. To motivate and develop a small team, providing on the job training to develop an individual's skill set, providing adequate training on the individual systems that are worked on.

  1. To supervise the general conduct and behaviour of the maintenance and electrical operatives including any contracted labour.

  1. To carry out Toolbox Tool training sessions, mandatory to all staff within the Estates function.

  1. To ensure that all staff under the post holders managements are compliant on all mandatory and statutory training required for their role.

  1. To liaise with the Estates and Facilities Helpdesk on the issue of work dockets, time sheets, holiday and sickness records.

  1. To provide management information to the Estates Manager as and when required.

  1. Assist others with complex multi-trade schemes and projects to achieve department function.

  1. To issue work permits to external bodies when trained to do so.

  1. To deputise for the Estates Manager when required to do so.

  1. Take part in an on call roster, as and when required.

The Successful Applicant

The electrical maintenance supervisor must have worked at this level previously.

The electrical maintenance supervisor can have a building services or hospital maintenance background

City and Guilds level 3 certificate and a 17th edition
