Job Description

Administration of exception reports, that show low margin sales transactions by ensuring:

    • All sales opportunities which are below the set system margin parameters are investigated by contacting the branch and or regional teams.
    • Supplier Contracts are attached to sales to ensure the transaction is profitable
    • All sales reported on the exception report are released for invoicing with a valid release code.
    • Trends are to be identified and reported on. These trends could be for customers, areas or product groups.
    • Streamline the daily report so that only genuine query lines are investigated

  • Checking integrity and making any necessary amendment to Credit Notes
  • Ensuring all supplier expired contracts which are resulting in low or loss margin are addressed by the branch.
  • Act as a conduit between trading support, category management and the business
  • Ensure clarity of ownership for expired contacts for either the renewal or terms amendment
  • Ensure that complex contract claims are profitable, remove complexity and correct as required
  • Investigate and resolve ad hoc margin related issues
  • Ensure all invoiced sales awaiting manual claims are captured
  • Work with the business to assess and continuously improve margins wherever possible
  • Analyse branch / brand reporting to identify trends for further investigation and put in place corrective measures where possible
  • Propose parameter changes where relevant and monitor the impact of the change.
  • Monitor margins following a supplier price increase or restructure or project and propose any action necessary.
  • Measure and report business benefit(s) from margin improvement activities

The scope of the job is to prevent excessive margin leakage in the business.

  • Working within the business at all levels to deliver margin improvement
  • Liaise closely with the colleagues at all levels as appropriate and escalate matters where necessary
  • Challenge in an appropriate manner to prevent the reoccurrence of an issue

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience of working with computers, particularly spreadsheets
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Knowledge of Internal Systems
  • Attention to detail
