Job Description

As a Cleaning Supervisor you will be responsible for;

  • Supervising the day to day cleaning operations as well as be responsible for the organisation and supervision of cleaning staff and ensuring all equipment-Janitorial Trolleys/Waste carts/materials are prepared in readiness for the staff to start their shifts promptly. The Cleaning Supervisor is also responsible for providing support and assistance to the Facilities Manager in the management and development of the cleaning team.

  • Providing a clean and welcoming environment for the staff and visitors in compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Supervision of the cleaning staff and assisting in the administration and management of the cleaning team

  • Maintain services and operations to comply with site specific quality standards

  • Contribute to the planning, organisation and evaluation of cleaning work

  • Stock - Ordering and distributing so that the cleaners can do their job to the standard required

  • Complete daily- weekly and monthly cleaning inspections and audits and retain records

  • Equipment - Maintain monthly record of all cleaning equipment - and ensure pre and post use check sheets are completed for all equipment

  • keep records of cleaner's absence and annual leave ensuring cover is in place as required

  • Training - Contribute to the training and development of the cleaning team, individuals and to enhance performance and ensuring all staff receive adequate training as required as per training matrix and data base

  • Health & Safety - Maintain the necessary conditions for an effective and safe working environment and ensuring that safe working practices are observed to avoid placing themselves, other staff, school personnel or visitors at risk by their actions

  • Customer service - To deal with customers and the public in a polite and courteous manner at all times to a World Host standard

  • To ensure that adequate levels of stock are in place to meet cleaning requirements

  • Complete Shift pre-brief - to include H&S and hot topics

  • Allocate areas of work and ensure fire board has full cover as per Fire Training

  • Ensure staff rota kept up-to-date and liaise with management team on the requirement for additional staff

  • Train, instruct and supervise the work of cleaning team

  • Take responsibility for making all cleaners aware of and familiar with the correct use of all equipment and materials (RA's, COSHH, equipment training)

  • Carry out performance reviews/appraisals

The Successful Applicant

  • Cleproficienciesnce

  • Supervisory experience

  • Certification of cleaning standards proficiencies (BICS Supervisory Skills Certificate)

  • First aid

  • Experience of supervising and leading a team of Cleaners

  • Ability to work in a team member or on your own initiative

  • Experience of work in education buildings

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety

  • Experience of dealing with administration duties

  • Conforming to good health and safety practices as detailed in policy documents

  • Awareness of own responsibilities relating to health and safety

  • Maintaining good security working practice in relation to premises, people, property and other assets

  • Compliance with quality audit schedule in accordance with contract requirements

  • Assisting in the training of all Cleaners
