Job Description

  • Manage the Cashiers teams ensuring the recruitment, induction, performance reviews and performance monitoring of colleagues in those teams are carried out effectively and in accordance with Society policies
  • Provide support, advice, development and encouragement to the Cashiers and Banking team
  • Support the Society's aspirations on colleague engagement, ensuring the requirements of the annual Colleague Survey Action Plan are fulfilled
  • Ensure that all cash statements and supporting documentation is received, checked and outlets contacted where information is missing.
  • Ensure that electronic / manual cash statements balance and are imported / keyed into Agresso.
  • Investigate any unusual values, raise queries with trading branches and support groups.
  • Prepare and post journals to resolve incorrect entries.
  • Liaise with the banking team / trading groups to resolve reconciliation issues that have been impacted by the weekly cash statement information.
  • Make suggestions to management to improve systems efficiency / accuracy of information.
  • Reconcile and code petty cash as reported on the weekly cash statements investigating any discrepancies and reporting issues to, district managers, operational managers and Loss Prevention.
  • Work with trading groups to ensure that only true overs and shorts are categorised as overs and shorts. Produce overs and shorts report to Group General Managers and Loss Prevention.
  • Be the point of contact for queries raised by the trading and other cash statement submitting groups.
  • Manage and reconcile the submission and receipt of vouchers and coupons including liaise with the counting house.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations investigating and amending any discrepancies

  • Reports to: Assistant Financial Accountant
  • Responsibility for 5 colleagues
  • Demonstrable people management skills

  • Consistently meet deadlines and manage workload
