Page Personnel is a market leading financial recruitment specialist, part of the Page Group. Our client based just outside Cardiff and is looking to recruit a Assistant Finance Business Partner to join their Finance team on a full-time, temporary basis.

Job Description

As Assistant Finance Business Partner you will provide finance support to the European Finance Business Partner, their Business Partner team and Senior Business team, ensuring correct financial reporting of the allocated business areas and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting and legal requirements. You will attend and actively participate in business and planning meetings. You will also provide assistance with financial analysis and suggest improvements to provide business excellence contributing to the business objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase orders and prepare financial journals to account for vehicles leases, equipment rental, utility supply, mobile phone rental.
  • Supports and ensures commonly understood working practices are in place and provide specialist advice and support on financial matters to Business Sectors and Business Areas.
  • Fully understand the Business needs and work with Business Partners to ensure coordinated implementation of organisational wide finance strategy to new business, service or products for sector or business areas.
  • Provide assistance to European Finance Business Partner in the implementation of plans, policies, systems, procedures and responsibilities which will achieve the strategic objectives of the area of support and responsibility and assist with delivery.
  • Production of period P&L and Management Accounts with full supporting documentation and analysis, providing a clear representation of the business sector results and working to agreed timescales with Business Partners and Senior Site Team.
  • Support Business Case preparation by providing robust and accurate financial analysis; Supporting the preparation of realistic site/ regional division budgets and forecasts and assisting with the organisations performance improvement initiatives.
  • Produce variance analysis to monitor spend and work with Business Area to coordinate commentary to support calculations.
  • Support with Supply Chain Finance Citibank programme. Ensuring vendor queries are dealt with promptly and invoices uploaded to the portal.
  • Administrative duties to support European Finance Business Partner such as completion of credit application forms and the creation of overhead purchase orders.
  • Provide finance assistance and expertise to the sector and sites
  • Deliver key processes and changes to the business sector sites and department, improving end to end processes
  • Ensure month end reporting, controls, monthly checklists and reports are reviewed and completed for submission to Group.
  • Ensure Business and Business Area Accounts are properly maintained and completed for review on a timely basis with discrepancies investigated & resolved.
  • Take responsibility for Finance relationships with internal and external third parties and suggest improvements for the Finance Function/ SSC.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for this role will be/have:

  • Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with minimum 3 years' experience part qualified experience in a similar role
  • Minimum 8 GCSE's grade C and above - Mathematics & English essential
  • Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant subject
  • Management Accountant with prior knowledge of Service/ Manufacturing Accounts
  • Budget setting experience, monitoring and variance analysis
  • Proven experience in cost control monitoring and reduction
  • Intermediate/advanced excel skills
  • Must have good commercial acumen
  • Self-Motivated with a can do attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be adaptable to change
  • A quick learner with a desire to further themselves through challenging targets
  • Prepared to travel and work off site
  • Navision experience is an advantage.

What's on Offer

The role is a 12 - 15 month contract, working full time hours, at a hourly rate of £12-14 (dependent on experience).
