About Our Client

Our client a Multinational Market leading business based in Woking, Surrey are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the team.

Job Description

The Assistant Accountant will on a day to day basis be involved in all general ledger transactions, for designated companies, within the UK financial shared services remit. This will include being involved in the preparation of statutory accounts, VAT, tax returns and monthly reporting. This will also include all general ledger journals, accruals, fixed asset register and other adjustments.

Finance Policy and Controls

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, as well as compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls.
  • Assist with internal and external audits including the preparation of audit schedules and auditor requests.
  • Assist in preparation of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Financial Operations and Shared Services

  • Ensure efficient and effective processing of general ledger transactions for the UK.
  • Support implementation of enabling technologies (SAP, JDE, HFM, Concur, e-requisition, e-payables) within the UK.

Business Optimization / Insights

  • Review of existing processes, structures, and systems with a focus on simplifying and standardization.
  • Maintain a strong focus on execution and delivery of short term results whilst moving towards the long term vision.
  • Involvement in the transition of new processes and process improvements with internal customers.
  • Help to drive standardization and scalability of the UK FSSC general ledger organization.

Business Excellence

  • Implement and drive consistency, efficiency, integration and communication of accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Assist in driving alignment, integration, and optimization among all IT
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and all local tax and statutory reporting requirements
  • Full involvement in month-end activity in the shared services environment.

The Successful Applicant

  • Ideally studying CIMA/ACCA but not essential
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in finance and accounting environment, ideally similar responsibilities to above
  • Some experience with ERP systems, SAP/JDE experience preferable not essential
  • "Roll up your sleeves" and can-do attitude, energetic, forward-thinker with strong ability to multi-task.
  • Strong financial, IT and analytical skills coupled with operational focus.
  • Strong customer service focus.
