About Our Client

Our client is a well known Pharmaceutical organisation based in Edinburgh and currently transitioning entities and countries into their European Finance Shared Service Centre. Our client is looking for an experienced AP Manager to take responsibility for the transition of AP activities into the shared service centre and ongoing operation of new entities.

Job Description

The main tasks of the Accounts Payable Manager will involve the following;

Strategic & Project Orientated

  • Review all processes and procedures within the SSC and make recommendations as to potential improvements.
  • Document and standardise policies and procedures relating to Accounts Payable, ensuring that adequate controls are in place to ensure audit compliance
  • Act as Project Manager on all relevant projects
  • Working with NA Finance & IT, deploy system solutions and enhancements into the SSC.
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan and culture within Accounts Payable.
  • Review use of Purchase Order systems and work with Procurement to drive improvements
  • Keep abreast with technological advancements in AP & expense finance systems arena and review/evaluate their suitability for the business.


  • Manage the day to day functions of Accounts Payable department in an efficient manner, including setting staff targets & performance reviews
  • Line management
  • Management of suite of key metrics and measures which are used to identify areas of risk, opportunity and weakness within the department
  • Ensure all payments made are processed through the Accounts Payable sub-ledger
  • Liaise with Procurement and Global Master Data departments
  • Produce timely and accurate AP cash forecasts
  • Liaison with the internal and external auditors.
  • Identify, control and escalate items likely to cause interest at higher levels of CRL

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will be an Accounts Payable Manager with line management experience of a team of circa 8 people.

Candidates with a shared service centre background would be preferred.

This is a hands on role with the role holder expected to contribute directly, and partly through the management of others. It is intended that this role agrees project/task outlines with the stakeholders/line manager and then owns delivery of these projects calling on support from the Shared Service Centre and other key stakeholders.
