About Our Client

Our client is a well-known and growing brand looking for an Accountant to join their Accountancy team in Guildford

Job Description

  • Liaising with the Office Manager for updates on contracts, purchase orders, subcontractor agreements and assignment orders in place
  • Updating contract payment schedules to ensure that information is as up to date as possible
  • Keeping accurate records of all financial transactions and ensuring that there is a clear audit path
  • Producing timesheet reports and liaising with project managers to ensure all invoices are prepared, raised and issued correctly, including reimbursable expenses
  • Identifying and resolving invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies and other financial related issues
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring that a professional service is delivered
  • Recording and arranging for timely payment of supplier bills in accordance with agreed terms, including subcontractor bills
  • Updating and maintaining employee expenses claim template and issue as appropriate
  • Importing and checking employee expense claims against receipts and HMRC VAT guidelines ensuring all claims are within policy limits and reimbursable expenses are within assigned project budget
  • Maintaining employee records and processing P46, starter forms, and P45's as appropriate
  • Processing of monthly payroll and employee expenses; RTI submissions and payments to HMRC (taking into account any SMP, SPP, SSP, and Salary Sacrifice arrangements as appropriate) and produce letters for employees to advise of changes in salary, bonus or pension as required
  • Preparing BACS payments
  • Administering company Child Care Voucher Scheme and Group Pension Scheme
  • Submission of P11d and Year End P60 returns
  • Assisting with calculation of Corporation Tax and payments to HMRC
  • Reconciliation and submission of VAT returns
  • Drafting month-end accounts
  • Preparing year-end accounts and supporting external auditor, including preparing account journals
  • Administering investment accounts as necessary

The Successful Applicant

  • AAT, part qualified with experience of Quick Books Pro
  • Experience working in an Accountant role
  • Excellent organisational, communication (written and verbal), time management and numerical skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, use own initiative and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with and consolidate data from a number of different systems / sources
  • A high level of computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of current MS Office packages.
  • Comply with security policies / procedures to maintain client and staff confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to undergo security vetting and background checks.
