Job Description

Duties of the Accountant will include:

  • Hands on management of the General Ledger involving multi ledger/currency transactions.
  • Manage Fixed Asset registers and monthly depreciation run.
  • Sign off of bank reconciliations prepared by AP Team
  • Management of Prepayment balance sheet accounts including monthly release journals
  • Management of Accrual balance sheet accounts including monthly journals
  • Management and entry of Payroll journals monthly
  • Preparation and reconciliation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger
  • Month end tasks to ensure books are closed within deadline with appropriate journals processed
  • Document systems and tasks as and when required and train finance staff in order that they can carry out their financial responsibilities
  • Completion of various statistical returns in an accurate and timely manner
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the integrity of financial record storage including batch transaction printouts, month-end close workings and archival of prior year records
  • Provide back up and support for other staff as required
  • Attend and participate in professional development & training as required
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of finance policy and controls
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service to colleagues, staff and other customers at all times
  • Participate in development/improvement projects as required
  • Maintain procedural documentation covering all tasks
  • Identify and implement agreed plans for own training and development needs
  • Assist in the training for all members on process and compliance requirements
  • Participate in induction and orientation activities as required
  • Any other duties or tasks as directed by the Line Managers

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles and practices
  • Part qualification of recognised professional accounting board (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) (preferred final year studier)
  • Experience with corporate financial, accounting and administrative information system
