About Acertec
Acertec is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of engineered steel products for use in the automotive and construction markets. It was formed through the buy-out and take-private of Hall Engineering Holdings plc in 1999 by the management team backed by Candover Partners Limited. In May 2006 Acertec was floated on the AIM and now has a market cap of c.£90m.
The company is comprised of two divisions: construction products ("BRC") and car body ("Stadco"). BRC is the UK's largest supplier of engineered steel products (re-bar and mesh) used in concrete construction. Stadco is the UK's largest supplier of body-in-white ("BIW") pressings and sub-assemblies to automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers ("OEMs").
BRC and Stadco are each the UK market leader in their respective field. Since the buy out the European operations of the group have grown significantly in terms of product offering, size and profitability. In addition to the Group's UK operations, Stadco has a major operation in Germany and BRC’s joint ventures and majority owned subsidiary trade in Ireland, Singapore and China.
Strategy
Acertec will continue to experience growth across both businesses by:
- Focusing on the sub-sectors of its divisions where market growth is still occurring, where the group can continue to win new business
- Focusing on Stadco key OEM relationships to ensure well positioned to win new supply contracts as OEM’s update their models
- Taking advantage of the continued strength of construction market and developing BRC’s portfolio of speciality products
- Pursuing opportunities overseas and selective acquisitions
