About Us
Denplan was set up in 1986 by two dentists who wanted to offer an alternative to NHS dentistry. They created a system that simplified administration within the dental practice and allowed dentists to spend more time with their patients, focusing on preventive oral healthcare and providing high quality treatment.
Today, Denplan is the UK's largest provider of dental payment plans, with an 80% market share. There are over 6,500 member dentists across the UK - approximately a third of practising dentists - caring for more than 1.8 million patients.
The concept behind Denplan allows dentists to charge their patients a fixed monthly fee, based on the condition of their teeth and gums, which provides them with regular examinations and treatment. The stable income that this system provides means that dentists can focus on quality of care rather than the quantity of patients they see. Dentists can practise at the highest standards, whilst retaining independence and control of their business.
In addition to personal dental payment plans, Denplan also provides corporate dental cover for employee benefit schemes and Denplan for Schools, an insurance plan for pupils at independent schools.
Denplan emphasises the importance of preventive dentistry, with the objective of maintaining healthy teeth and gums for life. Patients know exactly what their care will cost and the treatment it will cover, thus avoiding unexpected large bills and enabling them to plan and budget ahead for their care.
