After the first interview
Your consultant will be eager to hear how things went and you should call them at the first opportunity, ideally before you get back to work or on the tube – we might have the client on the phone wanting to know your decision!
No matter how you might feel about your performance, the debrief will be invaluable to your job search. Not only do we find out whether you are interested in the job, it gives us an idea of what is grabbing your attention - all feedback is relevant and we need your thoughts to make any progress.
In the majority of cases we will have achieved a good client to candidate fit, things will have gone well on both sides and you will be keen to progress to the next stage of the interview. Remember! It's all about feedback! Whether it's positive or negative, you can do something about it.
Second interview
When you're invited back for a second interview, ensure you are as well prepared as you were for the first. Rehearse your responses and re-focus on those positive attributes.
Your resignation
You've got the offer, our consultant has negotiated you a fabulous deal and you've accepted it! Next step? You need to hand in your resignation to your current employer, seeing out any period of notice written into your contract. This may be a bitter sweet moment, but focus on the positives and be cautious of any buy-back offers from your current employer – statistics suggest you won't stay for more than six months unless you're offered an entirely new role.
Maintain contact
Questions about the new role? Feeling anxious while working your notice period? You're probably nervous about the impending changes and your consultant understands this. Don't stew in your own juice, give them a call and you can talk it through. Arrange to go and meet the new team you will be working with and start to prepare for this exciting, new challenge.
Success
After a settling-in period you can expect to hear from your consultant, checking to see if everything is going well. If, however, you want to raise some concerns within your first few days, don't hesitate to initiate contact. Your consultant will always be on hand to help.
Refer a friend.
Do you know someone who's thinking of moving into an administrative or secretarial role? Send them our way! If we place them in a perm or temp role for a month or more, we'll give you an iPod.
